A person has been critically injured following a reported assault in the Auckland suburb of Glen Innes last night.

Police said it responded to an assault on Fenchurch Street reported at 8pm.

St John confirmed it sent two ambulances, one critical care unit and one operations manager.

“We are treating one patient in critical condition,” it said.

A police spokesperson said inquiries were ongoing.

1News footage from the cordoned scene outside Fenchurch Superette showed police officers investigating, and St John staff attending to a person who was then taken away in an ambulance.

A cordon was also in place around a bus on Nehu St in Ōrākei.

In a post to social media, Auckland Councillor Josephine Bartley claled for “calm in our community” following what she said was two violent stabbing attack incidents in the area.

“I understand there has been two stabbings, one in Glen Innes and one in Orakei by someone who caught the bus, it is unclear if this person or persons stabbed someone on the bus or at the bus stops,” she wrote.
