One person is dead and a second person was hospitalised after a four-vehicle crash in Palmerston North last night.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage, to come forward.
It’s believed the collision on SH3 Napier Rd occurred between 9.30 and 9.50pm.
Emergency services were alerted at about 10pm.
“Sadly, one person died at the scene while the other was transported to hospital in a stable condition,” police said.
“The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit attended and since has reopened.
“An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.”
Investigators asked for anyone with information or footage to call 105.
“Anyone who saw a silver Subaru or a green Utility travelling in the area around the time of the crash are also encouraged to get in touch,” a spokesperson said.
“Police are not in a position to release the name of the deceased at this time.”
