Police are searching for a suspect after a firearm was discharged at a motel in Auckland’s Papatoetoe last night.
Officers were alerted to reports of an “altercation” at a Great South Rd motel at about 6.10pm yesterday, a police spokesperson said.
“A firearm was discharged. The person believed to be involved has then left the area on foot.
“At this stage, while they have not been located, police are following positive lines of enquiry – which includes reviewing a significant amount of available CCTV footage in and around the area.
“Thankfully, no injuries have been reported in relation to this matter,” the spokesperson said.
The Papatoetoe community were told to expect an increased police presence in the area today as the investigation continues.
Anyone who was in the area or who had information was urged to contact police by calling 105.
