Police have issued a warrant to arrest a 21-year-old man who was charged after a violent altercation, including a gun being fired, outside Wellington Hospital last week.
The man from Gisborne — who was facing charges of possessing an offensive weapon — failed to appear in Wellington District Court this morning.
He was arrested on Thursday and bailed to appear in court this morning.
Police believe he may have presented a knife during a confrontation outside a Riddiford St motel which escalated to a gun being fired outside the entrance to Wellington Hospital.
“Inquiries are ongoing to locate them,” a spokesperson said.
Two other people involved in the incident have been taken into custody.
A 22-year-old man who allegedly fired the gun during the altercation was charged with discharging a firearm with intent to intimidate and appeared in New Plymouth District Court on May 4.
A 40-year-old man who allegedly presented a machete during the incident was taken into custody yesterday. He was remanded on bail to reappear in court on May 27.
