Russia resumed strikes on Kyiv after the expiration of a three-day halt in attacks for a visit to the Ukrainian capital by US envoys, as “Russian forces attacked Boryspil and Fastiv districts with drones,” the State Emergency Service of Ukraine posted on Telegram late Monday.

Russia’s state news agency TASS also confirmed earlier that the strike pause had expired.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered the three-day halt in Moscow’s strikes on Kyiv as US President Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were visiting the Russian and Ukrainian capitals at the weekend.

The Kyiv city military administration said an air raid alert had been declared in the capital due to the threat of “enemy” drone attack, and urged residents to take shelter.

The Russian Ministry of Defence also confirmed on Monday that its forces continued to strike port infrastructure and ships used by Ukraine for military purposes.

The ministry also claimed that from Sunday evening to Monday morning, Russian air defence forces intercepted and destroyed 306 Ukrainian drones in Belgorod Oblast, Bryansk Oblast, and over the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released a combat report on Monday, stating that 237 battles had taken place on the front lines over the past day. According to that report, Ukrainian forces repelled Russian offensives in several locations, destroying 51 Russian artillery systems, seven multiple rocket launcher systems, and over 1,400 drones, among other equipment.

Meanwhile, Witkoff praised progress in discussions with Ukraine and Russia, raising the prospect of reviving three-way peace talks to end the conflict, as he and Kushner met with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Witkov said in Kyiv on Sunday that both Russia and Ukraine needed to make concessions to narrow the gap between them, adding that the necessary conditions were now in place.
