A man found in a critical condition following an incident in Hamilton over the weekend has died in hospital, police say.
Police were called to Beatty St in the southern suburb of Melville at around 4.30am on March 15.
A 26-year-old man was found dead at the scene and a second man was taken to Waikato hospital in a critical condition.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Neilson said the injured man had died today.
“Our thoughts are with the families of the two deceased during this difficult time, and continue to offer them support.”
A 41-year-old man has been remanded in custody and was due to reappear in the High Court in Hamilton on April 1.
He appeared in Hamilton District Court yesterday charged with murder and with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Neilson said police were considering further charges following the second man’s death.
“Police continue to make enquiries into this incident and continue to ask anyone with information of CCTV footage to contact us.”
