Legendary Kiwi band Split Enz will reunite for the first time in almost 20 years.
The group were announced as the headliners for next year’s Electric Avenue festival at Christchurch’s Hagley Park in February.
It also marks Split Enz’s 50th anniversary.
“This is the most historic booking we’ve ever made – it goes far beyond ‘just another headliner’,” festival director Callam Mitchell said.
“It’s going to be a cultural landmark event of epic proportions.”
Split Enz will headline the festival’s first night on Friday February 27.
Also announced on the lineup, to headline the festival’s second night, was Australian house producer and DJ Dom Dolla, who recently played the main stages at Coachella, Creamfields and Lollapalooza.
“On the numbers, Dom Dolla is arguably the hottest DJ on the planet at the moment, and he’s now a stadium artist in many territories around the world,” Mitchell said.
Other international acts included US pop artist Kesha, Pendulum, The Streets, Ocean Alley, Basement Jaxx, Leftfield, Becky Hill, as well as breakout stars Sammy Virji and Disco Lines. Norwegian electronic innovators Röyksopp and Sudan Archives also joined the lineup.
Holding down the fort for Kiwi artists will be Fazerdaze, Drax Project, No Cigar, Kora, Supergroove, L.A.B, and Bret McKenzie.
Ticket information is available on the Electric Avenue website.
