A third person has been charged with murder after a man was found dead in the middle of an Auckland road earlier this month.
Two people have already been charged with murder after a 53-year-old North Shore man, who is yet to be named, was found on Point England Rd at 11.15pm on October 5.
Police earlier said the victim had suffered “multiple injuries and it appears the man has been run over by his own vehicle, which was also stolen during the incident”.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greaves said detectives executed a search warrant at a Glen Innes address this morning where a 19-year-old man was taken into custody.
“Three people have now been charged with the murder of this man.
“I would like to acknowledge the investigation team, who have worked tirelessly to get this result, and to thank those members of the community who have assisted our inquiries.”
Greaves said police were continuing to provide support to the victim’s family during this difficult time.
A 21-year-old man and 22-year-old woman, who were arrested last week, have both been remanded in custody charged with murder. They are due to reappear in the Auckland High Court on October 23.
The 19-year-old man arrested today will appear in the Auckland District Court this afternoon.
All three have also been charged with aggravated robbery.
