Police are expecting to see some traffic disruptions between Wainuiomata and Porirua this weekend as officers monitor a gang-related funeral.
The funeral is set to take place in Wainuiomata tonight, and a procession to Whenua Tapu in Porirua is planned for tomorrow.
“Police will have a visible presence in Wainuiomata tonight and will monitor the funeral procession out to Whenua Tapu,” relieving Hutt Valley area commander Inspector Simon de Wit said.
“Unlawful activity will not be tolerated, and any unlawful behaviour will be investigated and followed up with enforcement action.”
He said there “is likely to be some traffic disruption” tomorrow morning between Wainuiomata, State Highway 58, and Porirua.
“Motorists are advised to expect some delays,” de Wit said.
