Two further arrests have been made by officers investigating an aggravated robbery at an Auckland jewellery store last month, police said.
One person was seriously injured during the robbery at Pooja Jewellers on Kolmar Rd in Papatoetoe on June 23.
Three youths had previously been arrested and charged in relation to the incident.
Footage supplied to 1News showed the offenders entering the store, carrying what appeared to be hammers, before being confronted by a man who then received a heavy blow to the head.
As the thieves rushed to grab items, another staff member brandished a large sword and challenged the marauders with it as they retreated from the store.
Police are still seeking the armed offenders who attacked the jewellery store owner in Papatoetoe.
Detective Inspector Karen Bright said four search warrants were carried out in Mt Roskill, Mt Albert and Papatoetoe on Thursday.
“The investigation team located two persons of interest to the inquiry at separate addresses and they were taken into custody.”
A 16-year-old male was located in Mt Roskill and charged with aggravated robbery. He will appear in the Manukau Youth Court today.
A 36-year-old woman is also facing charges after being arrest at a Mt Albert address.
The woman has been charged with being an accessory to aggravated robbery after the fact, as well as receiving property.
A 33-year-old man was arrested at a Mt Albert address in relation to warrants for breaches of bail.
Both were due to appear in the Manukau District Court today.
“Today’s results mean there have now been five arrests made in connection with the unacceptable events that unfolded that Sunday evening,” Bright said.
“There is a lot of work going into the investigation by police staff involved.
“Inquiries are still ongoing into the incident, and we cannot rule out further arrests being made, or charges being laid as a result of this work.”
