Three people have been seriously injured after an incident in Ashburton early this morning.
Detective Sergeant Colin Welsh said at around 2am officers located two injured people in a vehicle on William Street and took them to hospital.
He said police were at the time attending “a separate job on the same street”.
“A third person, also seriously injured, self-transported to hospital,” said Welsh.
“Initial indications suggest those involved are known to each other and police are not seeking anyone further at this stage.”
Welsh said an investigation is ongoing to determine what has occurred and urged anyone who was in the area at the time to contact police directly on 111.
Information can also be reported to police anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
