US forces shot down two Iranian attack drones threatening international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM).

“Earlier today, US forces in the Middle East shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones that threatened international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM said in a post on X.

CENTCOM said it remains prepared to “continue defending against Iranian aggression.”

The interceptions came a day after US forces downed four other Iranian attack drones launched towards the Strait of Hormuz, which the military said posed a threat to maritime traffic.

The latest developments followed another escalation in the Gulf. Bahrain’s government said ballistic missiles and drones launched by Iran towards Bahrain and Kuwait were intercepted early on Saturday, and urged Tehran to halt attacks against its Gulf neighbours.

Iran said it had targeted US military assets in both countries following American strikes on surveillance facilities on Qeshm Island and near Sirik, which Tehran said were used to protect borders and ensure the security of international navigation. Iran described the US strikes as a violation of the ceasefire.

The exchanges came as the Trump administration continued to push for a deal to end the conflict.
