You, Me, And the Economy: Send us your questions for expert answers

What does New Zealand’s economic situation mean for you?

An upcoming 1News special – You, Me, And the Economy – hosted by Jack Tame will have the answers you need on Tuesday, November 25.

The light at the end of the tunnel. Signs of life. If you’ve been following news about the economy, you’ve almost certainly heard a phrase like this.

They all mean one very simple thing – that New Zealand has been going through some really tough times.

We’ve all felt it. In the last five years, the cost of living has skyrocketed, and our incomes haven’t kept pace.

Almost everyone will know someone who’s lost a job – perhaps that’s happened to you. You might have seen your favourite cafe close down because they can’t make ends meet. You might have lost friends and relatives to the lure of Australia or even further afield.

Downturns make everything feel grim, and the future feel hopeless. They can make people feel powerless and beaten down, with every new bill another burden.

But downturns don’t last forever. And while nothing can change what has already happened, we can change the future for the better.

That’s what the 1News Special You, Me, And the Economy is all about. On Tuesday next week, Tame will hosting a unique hour of TV to tackle some of the big questions about the economy.

What went wrong? How does the country get out of the funk? And what can you do to improve your own economic fortunes?

(Source: istock.com)

We’ll be joined by an expert panel, with vital perspectives on what we should learn from the last five years, why New Zealand has hope – and what the future will look like.

Send us your questions about the economy

We want to hear from you. Send us your questions for experts to answer and we’ll add them to the mix for discussion on the night.

If interested, we can pre-record you asking your question for the show – please include your name and contact details in the email.

From the primary industries to productivity, infrastructure to inflation, work and wages, we’ll give you both the big picture about the state of the country, and the close-up view of what it means for you.

Join us on Tuesday November 25 at 7.30pm – live on TVNZ1 and TVNZ+ – for You, Me, and the Economy.
